Dyer Insurance Agency has been owned and operated by the Dyer family for over 70 years. When H.M. (Bill) Dyer and his family moved to Commerce, Texas in 1929, he sold only life insurance. In 1938 he added fire and casualty lines. During these years, his wife, Aline, was his bookkeeper and his office was in his home. The first downtown office was opened in 1941 in a small space to the rear of the old First National Bank Building.

When Bill Dyer died in September 1961, his son Winford and his family moved to Commerce to continue the business. After receiving his degree in Insurance and Finance and working for a large agency in Lubbock, the third generation of insurance agents was complete when Don Dyer joined the family business in 1983.

Dyer Insurance Agency, Inc. has since grown to include an office Rockwall, Texas. It has been with great pride that Winford and Don have continued the family-owned business that has continually served its clients for over seventy years!

Winford B. Dyer The President of Dyer Insurance Agency, Inc., Winford began his insurance career in 1961. He has served as an officer of numerous civic and economic organizations in the Commerce area, and is currently President of the Northeast Texas Railroad Association. Winford holds a Group 1 Life, Accident, Health and HMO license, Stipulated Premium Agent-Accident and Health, and a Permanent Local Recording Agent License.

Don Dyer The Vice-President and Treasurer of Dyer Insurance Agency, Inc., Don began his insurance career in 1974 with an independent insurance agency while attending college. After graduating from Texas Tech University with a major in Finance-Insurance Option, he joined Dyer Insurance Agency, Inc. in 1981. Don is licensed as a Registered Representative with Safeco Investments Services of Redmond, WA. He also holds a Group 1 Life, Accident, Health and HMO license, an Excess and Surplus Lines license and a Permanent Local Recording Agent License. In his free time, Don pursues his favorite hobby, scuba diving!

Carol Clark After a number of years in the banking industry, Carol joined the Commerce office of Dyer Insurance Agency, Inc. in 1997. She has since obtained her Solicitor for Local Recording Agent's license as well as her Life, Accident, Health, and HMO license. She currently holds an Accredited Customer Service Representative designation in personal lines and is working toward her commercial lines designation. Carol makes her home in Commerce with her husband and son.

Julie Stailey Julie began her insurance career in 1982, and joined the Dyer Insurance Agency, Inc. in 1992, first managing a Wolfe City office before returning to the Commerce location in 1997. She currently holds an Insurance Service Representative license, an Accredited Customer Service Representative designation in personal lines, and is working toward her commercial lines designation. Julie resides in Wolfe City with her husband and children.

Tom Richardson Tom began his insurance carrier in 1976 working in a family insurance agency in Terrell, Texas. Tom has worked for Dyer Insurance Agency, Inc.since 1981. He holds a Group 1 life license and a local recording agents license. Tom and his wife, Joan enjoy traveling and spending time with their family.

Cindi Sartain Cindi began her insurance career in 1977 and has been working for Dyer Insurance Agency, Inc. since 1990. She holds an Insurance Service Representative license and is working toward her Accredited Customer Service Representative designation in personal lines. Cindi is a life-long resident of Rockwall County and currently resides in McLendon-Chisholm with her husband and son.
